A lot of wood doors are not made of wood. Many manufacture door companies to save costs they use cardboard panels inside faux-wood coating made partially of plastic compound and other companies use wood frames, but fill the body of the door with fiberglass or resin or they use false-wood-grain synthetic veneers to cover door frames.

However wood doors are more expensive than synthetic doors, they are far more probably to withstand the warping and cracking that can damage synthetic doors and make them less weatherproof.

Synthetic doors are more likely to destroy while a breaking-and-entering attempt and them are more likely to get damage from children or pets. A wood door offers a high return-on-investment.

 

Wood Door Types 

There are a many types of wood doors; these styles can be used inside or outside.

 

Louvered doors:

This door style can be used outdoors when installed on a porch or deck, where air circulation might be desired.

This door style consists of dozens of slender wooden slats, or louvers, centered in a wood frame.

 

 

Panel doors:

Perhaps the best known style of door; consists of one, two or more panels, and panels can be either recessed or raised. It can be used for interior or exterior door, although it is mainly used for outdoor because it’s very solid material.

 


True Divided-Light Doors:

 This door style consists of a wooden frame with multiple glass panes set inside it. The glass panes are joined together with wood muntins, or grilles, which are essentially tiny wood slats. This door style can provide excellent climate control indoors or outdoors.
